A native, from-scratch Swift code editor for macOS that's still being built in the open — lightweight, fast, and unapologetically Mac-native.

CodeEdit is a code editor built from the ground up in Swift and SwiftUI, aiming to be the editor Xcode isn't: fast, lightweight, and equally at home with any language or project, not just Apple platforms. It's still working toward a 1.0 release, but the core editing experience — syntax highlighting, a file browser, and a native macOS feel — is already in daily use by its community.
Most cross-platform editors feel like web apps wearing a Mac costume. CodeEdit doesn't: every window, sidebar, and animation is built with native AppKit/SwiftUI, so it starts instantly and behaves exactly like the rest of macOS. It's fully open source and developed in the open, with an active Discord and a public roadmap for what's coming next.
Completely free and open source, currently in active pre-1.0 development.
