Warp

The terminal, rebuilt with editable input, command output grouped into blocks, and an AI agent that can run tasks for you.

Warp is a terminal that borrows the good ideas from modern editors. Your input is a real text field with selection, cursor positioning, and completions. Each command and its output become a block you can scroll to, copy, share, or re-run.

Why it makes the list

The command line has barely changed in decades, and Warp is the most convincing attempt to move it forward without breaking muscle memory. It is fast (also written in Rust, also GPU-rendered), the blocks model makes long sessions navigable, and the built-in AI turns half-remembered commands into working ones.

Standout features

  • Blocks — jump between commands, collapse noisy output, share a block as a link

  • Modern input editor with multi-cursor, completions, and syntax highlighting

  • Agent Mode — describe a task in English and let Warp run and correct the commands

  • Warp Drive for saving and sharing parameterized workflows across a team

  • Prompt and theme customization, with SSH and tmux support

Pricing

Free for individuals with a generous AI allowance. Paid Team and Enterprise plans add shared Warp Drive objects, higher AI limits, and admin controls.
