Native Markdown editor for the plain .md files on your Mac: renders as you type, edits folders in place, no account.

Inkstone is a native Markdown editor for the Mac. It opens the folders your Markdown already lives in (a blog, a repo's docs, years of notes, the folder your coding agents write to) and edits the files in place. No import, no database, no account.

Markdown renders as you type, and nothing jumps around. Click into a heading and the page stays put; put the caret in a link and it's still a link.

What's in it

  • Spaces: group any folders together, each with its own tabs and splits
  • Tables with drag handles, task lists, footnotes, syntax-highlighted code and LaTeX math
  • Wikilinks across folders, compatible with existing Obsidian vaults
  • Focus and typewriter modes
  • Version history for every file, kept in macOS's own version store
  • Live reload when another app changes a file on disk
  • Themes, a font picker, and export to HTML and PDF

It's a SwiftUI app, not Electron, and everything stays on your Mac.

$29.99 once, with a free 14-day trial at inkstone.md. Also on the Mac App Store. macOS 14 or later.
