bytemail
A native Swift-built Mac email client that never routes your mail through its own servers — on-device search, rules, and Apple Intelligence summaries, with Gmail, iCloud, and IMAP support.
bytemail is a native Swift/SwiftUI email client that connects directly to your mail provider — Gmail, iCloud, Outlook, Yahoo, Fastmail, or any IMAP server — without ever routing your mail through its own servers.
Why it makes the list
It's the newest native entry built specifically around on-device privacy: search, rules, and phishing checks run locally on your Mac, and its optional AI summaries use Apple Intelligence on-device rather than a cloud API.
Pricing
No permanent free tier — every plan starts with a 7-day trial. $3.99/month or $39.90/year, with an occasional limited-time lifetime option. Check bytemail's own pricing page for current terms.
